All Saints' Church

Welcome to the web site of All Saints' Church, Carshalton.

All Saints' is an Anglican church, the Parish Church for central Carshalton, Surrey, England. It is particularly known for its reverent, traditional worship, its great age, its beautiful setting, and its interior. You see what it looks like from a "virtual tour" (for which you will need Java installed on your computer) kindly created by Mark Poston; wait for a picture of the graveyard to appear, and then click on "Panorama 1" to see what options are available.

All Saints' is part of the Diocese of Southwark within the Church of England.  The Church of England web site describes our Christian faith.

The Church of England web-site also gives general information about baptisms, weddings and funerals, including fees for the basic services. Additional fees apply if you ask for "extras" such as Bells (£100); Flowers (£60); Organist (£85, and there may be additional charges if there is a professional video), plus Administration for organizing these (£25).

We are proud to announce that the new lighting in the church recently came second in the National Lighting Awards, Heritage section.

All Saints' Parish

All Saints' parish covers approximately the areas commonly known as Carshalton Village and The Wrythe.

You might want to know whether you live in All Saints' parish or not. The Diocesan web site contains a facility to enable you to find out which parish you live in. First enter your post code, and click "GO". A map of your area should appear. Now click on the map exactly where you live. Then the name of the parish you live in should appear in the top right-hand corner of the screen, and the parish boundary should appear on the map in red (if it falls within the visible part of the map).

All Saints' Primary School

All Saints' maintains close links with its church primary school

All Saints Church of England School, Carshalton is a happy, high-achieving school that aims to give children security, confidence, success and stability. It accepts children for who they are, and helps them to develop confidence through the use of skills, in an atmosphere that encourages them to know themselves and accept each other as individuals.

The school aims to promote spirituality, success and self-esteem, helping the children to develop lively enquiring minds, good personal relationships, and the knowledge and skills to equip them for a future in the ever-changing world in which we live. The school values its strong partnership with parents, believing that parents are instrumental in their children's development.

The committed staff at All Saints School provides a wealth of learning experiences within an exciting and stimulating environment. Such opportunities enable the children to acquire and develop the skills to choose and discriminate, to reflect and predict, and to analyse and describe the world around them. The children are happy, enthusiastic and open individuals who are a delight to teach.

Father John Thewlis is both Rector of All Saints Church and Chairman of the Governors of All Saints School. Carshalton parish church has for many years played an active part in primary education. At one stage early in the nineteenth century, the rector and churchwardens allowed a school to be held in the chancel of the old church. Other buildings followed, and to-day's purpose-built one-form entry Voluntary Aided infant and junior school in Rotherfield Road is the latest, biggest and best in a long line.

The school is blessed with happy and responsive children, dedicated and skilful staff, supportive parents and governors, attractive modern surroundings, and an environment of great kindness. While its academic record has always been a very fine one, faith is at the heart of a Christian school, so it strives to be a place of love and joy, mutual understanding, and emotional depth. God has been good, and it strives to share those good things.

As well as accepting children aged 4-11 in the primary school, the school also has morning and afternoon nurseries for children aged 3-4.

More information about the school can be obtained from the Axcis recruitment website.

The school Admissions Policy is based upon Anglican Church attendance with priority being given to children whose parents worship at All Saints, Carshalton. The local council provides an application form for admission to the school here.

Church Yard

The church yard contains a great number of graves. Unfortunately it is now too full to accommodate any new graves. For information concerning graves contact the Parish Clerk, Rosemary Lilley.

We struggled to keep the church yard tidy, so this task has now been taken on by the local council.
